Are there any charges for calls to the US and Canada?

Calls are free to the great majority of locations in the US and Canada. Calls to Alaska, the Yukon, and Northwest Territories, and pay-per-minute numbers require prepaid credits. If you feel you are required to purchase prepaid credits for a number that should be free, you can contact 877-846-5066. We’ll check the number and fix any errors within 2 business days. 

To purchase Pre-Paid Credit: Click here and log into your account using the e-mail address and password you used when you registered your magicJack. Once you have successfully logged in, under the International/Prepaid tab, choose the option to Add/View Prepaid Balance.

Can I call Puerto Rico for free?

Yes, the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico are included in our free local and long distance plan.

Can I call the US Virgin Island for free?

No. Calls to the US Virgin Island require International Prepaid Credits. Please click here to verify the pricing.

What are the restrictions for long distance calls?

Free US and Canada calling does not include calls to Alaska, the Yukon and Northwest Territories of Canada, or calls to non-8YY calling card, platform, conference, or chat lines, for which additional fees will apply.

Do I need to dial a country code to dial the US or Canada from another country?

No, to dial the U.S or Canada, simply dial the ten-digit telephone number.

Can I make international calls from magicApp?

Yes, you will need to purchase prepaid calling credits to make international calls. Click the More tab on the App Menu and then the Add International link under the International/Prepaid tab to purchase credit. Calling credits will be instantly available for calls on magicApp.

Can I text international phone numbers?

At this time, text messaging is limited to U.S. mobile numbers only.

Can I use my prepaid calling credits another way?

Yes, you have the option to call International numbers from your cell phone or other landline phone using magicJack prepaid credits by registering any North American phone number through your magicJack account as a call around number.

Simply click here and log into your account.

Once logged in, click the International/Prepaid tab, enter the telephone number you will be making international calls from in the box labeled Cell or Landline (IPP Only) next to the device for which you have or will be adding prepaid credits, and click Submit. You will receive an email with instructions and the access code, 305-848-9999. Dial the access code to start making International calls from the phone number you registered.

Note: You can only register one additional number per magicJack. In order to make international calls you need to purchase International Prepaid credits.

International prepaid credits expire six months after the date of purchase.
